Xinhua Beijing, July 11 (reporter Liu, Liang Lin Lin) Central Military Commission vice chairman, State Councilor and Defense Minister Liang 11, met at the Bayi Building U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Mike Mullen and his party.
Guo said in their joint efforts, China-US relations have maintained stable development momentum. Especially the United States earlier this year, President Hu Jintao paid a successful visit with President Obama to work together to build mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win China-US partnership and reached important consensus on bilateral relations, pointing out the direction, added a new vitality and power. The two sides should actively implement the consensus reached by leaders of both countries, efforts to improve Sino-US relations to a new level.
Guo pointed out that the current rise to the good military relations, the emergence of new opportunities for development, we should seize the opportunity to advance bilateral military relations. China military relations has been the development of a positive attitude, willing to make joint efforts with the United States, the spirit of “respect, trust, reciprocity, mutual benefit” principle, to expand and strengthen dialogue and exchange, respect and care for each other’s core interests and major concerns, nurturing and enhance strategic mutual trust, promote military relations in a healthy and stable development.
Guo stressed that the Taiwan issue involves China’s core interests, China urges the U.S. to abide by three Sino-US joint communiques and not to sell Taiwan advanced weapons, military relations between the two countries not to cause new damage.
Mullen said the United States for the trip to China attaches great importance with China on how to implement the consensus reached and the elimination of differences, have had a frank and sincere dialogue.
Liang said the current, rise to the good relations between the two armies, facing new development opportunities. How to adapt to new situations, to maintain healthy and stable development of Sino-US military relations is the two sides facing major issue and the international community on major issues of common concern. Both sides should adhere to and help establish the development of military relations between the relevant policies; to enhance strategic mutual trust, sincerity in the other as partners; to really attach importance to strengthening pragmatic cooperation in defense and security fields. Hope that the U.S. and China towards the line, in order to increase mutual trust, cooperation, mutual trust and promote cooperation, mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, based on the existence of the two sides properly handle contradictions and differences, and constantly improve the level of development of military relations.
Mullen said the U.S. side hopes this visit can promote the two armies in mutual respect, mutual trust based on good relations to the benefit of future generations.
