BEIJING, April 27 (Xinhua) Dow Jones reported that the Sri Lankan government said Monday that in order to avoid civilian casualties, has ordered troops to stop the use of heavy weapons and fighter to fight for the Tamil Tigers.
Office of the President of Sri Lanka issued a statement that “our troops have been received to stop the use of heavy artillery, fighter aircraft and air weapons, command that these weapons could lead to civilian casualties.”
Sri Lankan government said the army has the Tamil Tigers in fierce northeast of the country in a small area. Faced with the imminent failure of Sri Lanka, 26 Tamil Tigers declared a unilateral ceasefire, the Sri Lankan government but was refused.
