MOSCOW, Aug. 20 (Xinhua reporter Zhao Jialin) Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov at the 20th meeting of the Bureau of the Russian government said that the Russian defense procurement in 2010 will total 1.109 trillion rubles (1 U.S. dollar equals 31.8 rubles).
Itar-Tass quoted Ivanov as saying that the day of the Russian Military Industrial Commission to the Russian Ministry of Finance submitted a draft 2010 defense procurement. Given the country’s current economic situation, next year’s defense procurement will be mainly concerns the protection of strategic missile forces and nuclear safety, long-term contracts to fulfill all Department of Defense to strengthen the military infrastructure, aviation technology and equipment procurement and the protection of aerospace defense and so on.
Ivanov also introduced some of the procurement funds distribution plan. Among them, 470 billion rubles of the Russian armed forces will be used to purchase weapons and equipment; 64.4 billion rubles will be used in addition to the rest of Russia’s powerful Department of Defense outside the department’s weapons and equipment procurement and maintenance, as well as scientific research and experimental design; the remaining funds rations will be used for protection, linen supply, fuel procurement and military housing security.
