Boeing” Laser Avenger, “UAV weapon system successfully hit an instant picture
According to the U.S. Boeing Company November 18, 2009 reported in May of this year, Boeing moved its laser weapon system performance is tested, tracked and destroyed a small UAV.
this experiment funded by the U.S. Air Force, China Lake, California location is located in the Naval Air Warfare Center. Comprehensive initiative aimed at moving the source of this test equipment (Mobile Active Targeting Resource for Integrated eXperiments, MATRIX) by Boeing for the Air Force developed in the laboratory can be used to shoot down a single high-intensity laser beam at different distances of five UAVs. Boeing’s investment and development, “Laser Avenger” (Laser Avenger) also shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle. Air Force and the Army of the House of Representatives visited the test.
According to Boeing officials said these tests, the Air Force, and directed energy technology, the company achieved a breakthrough, MATRIX show remarkable accuracy and lethality, and the use of low-power laser obtained long-range point and tracking capabilities.
as part of counter-UAV demonstration experiment, Boeing also installed in the “Laser Avenger” 25mm light machine gun on the platform for a successful fire test to demonstrate the directed energy/kinetic energy hybrid system against the UAV’s potential function.
MATRIX by Boeing Directed Energy Systems division develops, this is a trailer mounted on a mobile test bed, and the integration of an existing ranging radar. “Laser Avenger,” by the Ministry of directed energy systems and combat systems jointly developed, in which the development of the “Avenger,” based on the integrated air defense system, a directed-energy weapons.
