According to the U.S., “Aviation Week and Space Technology” web site December 24, 2008 reported that] the U.S. Navy awarded Boeing a contract worth $ 905.3 million, from the United States, Canada, Australia, Spain, Kuwait, Switzerland , Finland and Malaysia’s 2000 eight countries F/A-18 family aircraft (including F/A-18A/B, C/D, E/F and EA-18G) for mission system upgrade. According to plan, Boeing will be completed in December 2013 before the upgrade.

Boeing spokesman Philip Carder said the upgrade is to ensure that these aircraft in the next 30 years, one of the means to maintain deterrence.
