Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement
2010 年 9 月 7, Japan on the Diaoyu Islands waters illegally arrested China buckle 15 fishermen and fishing vessels, and detained the captain until September 24. For this serious violation of Chinese territorial sovereignty and Chinese citizens’ human rights practices, the Chinese government expresses strong protest.
Diaoyu Islands are China’s inherent territory since ancient times, China has indisputable sovereignty. Japan’s seizure of Chinese fishermen fishing, the investigation and any form of justice initiatives are illegal and invalid. Japan must apologize to the Chinese side of this incident and compensation.
China and Japan are close neighbors and adhere to the direction of the development of mutually beneficial strategic relations, the fundamental interests of both peoples. The two sides should resolve through dialogue and consultation issues in Sino-Japanese relations, maintaining the overall situation of bilateral relations. China’s position has not and will not change.
